COURSES
Different IELTS preparation courses are available, depending on your current English level and your target score.
- INT 16 = 32 hour course (16 x 2 hour lessons) – IELTS 5.0-6.0
- INT 12 = 24 hour course (12 x 2 hour lessons) – IELTS 5.0-6.0
- ADV 12 = 24 hour course (12 x 2 hour lessons) – IELTS 6.0+
- ADV 8 = 16 hour course (8 x 2 hour lessons) – IELTS 6.5+
PRICES
Prices for 1-1 lessons and are from 1200-1600 NTD per hour depending on the location, e.g.
- Online/my home = 1200 NTD per hour
- Qtime/Talk Central = 1400 NTD per hour
- Other places in Taipei (e.g. your home, coffee shop, office) = price depends on location
MY EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching English since 2007 and have worked in language schools and universities in the UK, Poland, New Zealand and China. In Taiwan, I have worked as an IELTS teacher at IDP Education since 2019 and I have helped many students achieve their goal in the IELTS exam. I also have extensive experience of preparing international students to study on both undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses in universities in the UK, New Zealand and China, including the University of Nottingham, the University of Leicester, Nottingham Trent University and Massey University.
MY QUALIFICATIONS
I earned an MA in TESOL(Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from the University of Leeds in 2013. I also have practical teaching qualifications such as the Trinity Cert. TESOL (2007) and Trinity Dip. TESOL (2010).
MY TEACHING APPROACH
I use a step-by-step approach to focus on the most important areas to help you succeed in the IELTS exam. Each lesson focuses on one topic (e.g. education) and on one specific area of the writing exam (either Task 1 or Task 2). By using a variety of activities and sample answers, I will carefully guide you through the process of completing each task successfully. Over time, you will gradually build the skills and language knowledge you need to succeed in each individual task. Throughout the course, we will review the key skills and knowledge to help you remember everything you need on exam day without any difficulty. At the end of each class, you will have the opportunity to complete either a task 1 or task 2 writing homework using authentic Cambridge IELTS materials. You will then receive detailed feedback on each writing homework completed. You can download some example teaching materials here and here.
As well as focusing on writing in each class, you will also have plenty of opportunities to develop your speaking skills by practising each part of the speaking section based on the lesson topic using authentic Cambridge IELTS materials. I will also provide you with advice and feedback on your performance to give you the best possible chance of success when you face the real exam. I will also provide you with key vocabulary to help you express your ideas more effectively for each lesson topic.
After each lesson, I will give you plenty of homework to help you practise the reading and listening sections of the IELTS exam. The answers will be provided so you can check for yourself, but you can also discuss any answers and strategies with me in the following lesson. During the lessons, there will be plenty of time for me to advise on self-study activities and I can help you make a self-study plan (if required).
